To enhance the coherence of the town’s landscape and improve the clarity of main routes and public spaces, a straightforward formal vocabulary is essential. The Place de la Plage, centrally located and sheltered from the winds, becomes a vital green landmark with its diverse atmospheres and blooming plants.
The revitalization of Avenue Houdart, “the avenue that leads to the Sea,” transforms it into a vibrant promenade. This space prioritizes soft traffic—pedestrians, cyclists, and rollerbladers—while calming motorized vehicles. Varied developments cater to a broad audience and different activities, promoting comfort and encouraging leisurely strolls.
Public spaces are modular, especially around the market hall. Removable barriers create room for markets and small events. Terraces are reorganized with planted islands that not only enhance the space but also mitigate wind effects. Street furniture, including benches and seating areas, invites relaxation and exploration.
The new hall serves as a bridge between the mineral space and the garden. This low-rise structure, featuring three roofs, creates distinct areas suitable for a variety of events, such as markets, exhibitions, performances, or gatherings. It also offers fresh perspectives on the garden and the historic kiosk.
