The encounter with Kapellskär is sudden and direct. Without forewarning you find yourself in the large-scale, horizontal and open dock landscape which sits secluded and surrounded by forest in three directions. The natural beauty of the location with the archipelago directly outside the port has inspired the concept and form. The coastal nature and its colours have influenced the choice of materials and expression. Long screens of corten steel along the entrance announce the port on approach. A stylised archipelago with a patterned coating and islands filled with lyme grass and stones dredged from the port, guides visitors to the entry zones and terminal building.
