Buro Sant en Co: In this winning design for the Hill, the square becomes the main square of Tilburg once more; lively and relaxing, modern and green. A venue for cultural festivals, fairs and a homage to William II. A square, but green! The layout of the square is simple: a triangular shaped platform with lime trees set in a triangular space. The diverging shape of the square is defined by its surroundings and accentuated by a planting of plane trees along the edges. The triangular shape of the platform molds itself into the available space and is a reference to the rural origin of the square. The materials for the square are chosen in such a way that they easily connect with the surroundings and the new design for the city ring. The platform has lots of space and offers many opportunities for contemporary uses. With the chosen materials, the ‘stage’ is a hybrid between an urban center and a green oasis.
