Hukodden offers a unique geological landscape along the Oslo fjord. Fossil-bearing rock formations have granted the area protected status. At the same time, the area is one of Oslo’s most beloved bathing spots. The project aimed to improve access to the bathing ramp, bathing dock, and outdoor shower while preserving the rock formations.

To achieve this, universally accessible wooden pathways were laid, gently integrating with the protected terrain using point foundations. These paths are strategically positioned to remain accessible during high tide, which is common in the area.

The project involved relocating the existing bathing ramp from the east side of the beach to the west and integrating it with the pathway. This integration creates a user-friendly and well-adapted facility that accommodates multiple user groups. Additionally, maintenance work has been conducted on the outdoor areas south of the bathhouse including new edging and re-asphalting.

This upgrade enhances an existing facility, providing wheelchair-friendly access. The new measures consider all user groups while respecting the natural and cultural environment, outdoor activities, landscape, and public interests.
