On the way up to Aurlandsfjellet, a mountain located in Norway, you’ll come across Sluppen. A resting area that offers your first glimpse of the majestic Vardahaugselvi waterfall and views of the surrounding mountains.

The area is defined by a natural stone balustrade, inspired by the nearby river landscape. This balustrade seamlessly rises from the former road, constructed using local natural stone to ensure a harmonious integration of all walls, edges, and stairs with the environment and landscape.

The upper level of the resting area is gravel-paved, providing a universally accessible seating spot. An information sign informs visitors about the hike leading to the river. For those seeking further exploration, a bridge over the river leads to an existing trail. The path has been thoughtfully laid out to minimize disturbance to the landscape and preserve trees. Additionally, two seating areas are strategically positioned along the path – one close to the main route and another nestled in the forest.
The resting area is only accessible during the summer months, as the road to Sluppen is closed in winter.
