21 October / Open Call by Data Through Design: “Corpus: Bodies of Data”

Data Through Design invites you to participate in the annual exhibition where participants “creatively analyze, interpret and interrogate data made available in NYC’s Open Data Portal. With art’s capacity to capture the human experience, DxD surfaces hidden stories, disrupts widely accepted patterns, and questions claims to objectivity of data-driven narratives.”

This 2025 theme is “Corpus: Bodies of Data”. DxD encourages submissions from a wide range of artists, civic technologists, data enthusiasts, city dwellers, and creative practitioners in all formats.

”Corpus” carries multiple meanings. A corpus might be a body of work, knowledge, literature, or language – the embodiment of activity, values, or beliefs. Corpus can also mean a physical body, an aggregation of organisms, a group of elements or people, or the corporeal substance of a thing.

DxD will provide a $900 stipend for project fabrication, as well as installation and promotional support to each project artist or artist team. Applicants must be approved to work in the US in order to be paid a stipend.

Exhibition dates are set for March 21 – March 30 in New York City. Work must be installation-ready by March 14, 2025, and artists should plan to deliver work to the venue by March 18.
