Landscape Forms, a Michigan-based outdoor solutions manufacturer renowned for their craftsmanship in materials like powdercoated metal, outdoor wood, precast concrete and recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE), has recently expanded their offering and officially entered the world of cushioned outdoor seating. Known as Monterey, their first line of soft seating merges comfort, elevated design and outdoor durability in a club chair, sofa and set of sectionals.
“Monterey is an exciting, breakthrough product for us, filling a gap in our portfolio as our entry into the soft seating category,” says Landscape Forms Chief Innovation Officer, Kirt Martin. “It stands out in the market, combining industry-leading, recognizably Landscape Forms metal craftsmanship with our take on sophisticated, very premium outdoor cushioning to match. There’s nothing else quite like this out there.”
In each of the seating silhouettes, a distinctly Landscape Forms sculptural bent rod frame cradles plushly cushioned seats and backs. There’s a sense of continuous curvature — with a single bent rod forming the entire perimeter of the frame — that speaks to Monterey’s softness and comfort with sophisticated design appeal. The stylish use of smooth rounded form continues in the cushions themselves, each elegant and form-fitting with French seams, darted corners and concealed zippers.
According to Landscape Forms Director of Design, Ryan Heiser, much research and development was devoted to achieving this combination of refined design and elevated quality and durability in the company’s first foray into soft seating. “We’re leaders in creating beauty and longevity in the outdoor environment, and Monterey is no different,” says Heiser. “Just as we would for any metal or wood site furnishing, we put the same attention to detail into ensuring that the fabric cushions were exceptionally crafted, robust, and able to gracefully withstand the elements outside,” he continues. “Working in-house and also leveraging the expertise of our partners at Summit Furniture, we really delved into the cushion development, iterating and trying out many material combinations to achieve outdoor space durability with a tailored, refined and super premium appearance.”
The latest addition to the Landscape Forms group of brands, Summit Furniture’s contribution to the Monterey line is the company’s innovative Tradewind weather-, fade- and abrasion-resistant fabric. This 100% solution-dyed acrylic performance fabric is celebrated for its durability, excelling in trying applications like high-use settings and coastal and marine environments.
Introduced in conjunction with the new soft seating, Landscape Forms’ Cora line of lounge-height nesting tables offers a natural complement for Monterey, their soft and stylized organic forms making for compelling combinations that are at home in high-end amenity spaces and luxury hospitality destinations.
